Mungai Eve, who was once a promising freelancer digital journalist has been reduced to a socialite. She started from nothing and worked hard together with her ex boyfriend, director Trevor and amounted to a young millionaire.
At the age of 21, Mungai Eve was making millions. She was the face of their company but Director Trevor controlled all their digital channels. It was well until when Mungai Eve started cheating on Director Trevor with CEOs of big companies.
Trevor couldn’t take it anymore because he claimed that Eve was disrespecting him. She would go out on vacation for a whole week with other men, leaving Trevor at home. She wasn’t doing the interviews that brought her on the limelight anymore. She was just after the vacations and endorsements that she received courtesy of their hard work.
Since she was the face of their business, Mungai Eve thought she was the brand and without her Director Trevor wouldn’t manage the accounts. She had the contacts of CEOs and was sure of getting endorsements and making money even without Trevor.
After their breakup, Director Trevor took control of their YouTube channel and Facebook page. He rebranded them from Mungai Eve to Kenya Online Media. Mungai Eve wasn’t shaken by the move. She was on a vacation in Zanzibar and when she came back, she opened a new channel, interviewed Andrew Kibe and got over 300k views in a day. She thought she had bounced back better and stronger.
Her downfall
As Director Trevor continued with the consistency of posting new content on a daily basis, Mungai Eve was out there enjoying the money she had. She started dressing flimsy and was free to take suggestive photos just for online clout. However, her YouTube channel started being dormant. Right now, only her Instagram account seems to have life but her YouTube channel is dormant due to lack of content.
No numbers, no endorsements
In Kenya, CEOs can lie to you, sleep with you but once that is done, they do not feel obligated to help you if you have nothing to offer in return. Most companies have a process and before they approve someone to be their brand ambassador, they have to be vetted. Unfortunately for Eve, Most companies don’t see her as valuable as she used to be. Companies are pulling out and since she doesn’t have the engagement that companies want, no company wants to pay for low engagement.
Will Mungai Eve Bounce Back?
We have seen several celebrities bounce back. For example, Betty Kyalo rebranded herself after she lost her job and continued making content and money. The only way for Mungai Eve to come back is to realize her mistake and what put her in the limelight. Being a socialite and pleasing men for money doesn’t really help without sustainable streams of revenue. She needs to be consistent and give people more content. Otherwise, she will be at the mercy of men who will mistreat her and leave her for the streets once she is worn out.
