WHAT IS IRON DOME AND HOW DOES IT WORK

Iron Dome is a missile defence system developed by Israel. It is designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and artillery shells that are fired towards populated areas. The system uses advanced radar technology to detect incoming threats and then launches interceptor missiles to intercept and destroy them in mid-air.

When an incoming rocket or artillery shell is detected, the Iron Dome’s radar system tracks its trajectory and calculates its estimated impact point. If the system determines that the incoming projectile poses a threat to populated areas, it launches an interceptor missile to intercept and destroy the threat. The interceptor missile is equipped with advanced guidance systems and is designed to detonate near the incoming threat, destroying it before it reaches its intended target.

The Iron Dome system is capable of engaging multiple threats simultaneously and can prioritize intercepting those projectiles that pose the greatest threat. It is important to note that while the Iron Dome has been successful in intercepting a significant number of incoming threats, it is not 100% effective and some projectiles may still penetrate through the defense system.

DOES ANY OTHER COUNTRY USE IRON DOME

As of now, Israel is the only country that has deployed and actively uses the Iron Dome missile defense system. However, there have been discussions and negotiations with other countries regarding the potential acquisition of the Iron Dome system. These discussions include countries like the United States, which has expressed interest in acquiring the technology for its own defense systems.
